Raith Loegaire

A Late Bronze Age ringfort.

This area’s name recalls the Ard Ri converted to Christianity by St. Patrick in 433AD.  Following this event Tara gradually became more secular than sacred.

In the Books of Ballymote and Armagh this King Loegaire is said to be buried at Tara, standing up facing south, accompanied by his weapons and in warrior dress, watching for his enemies.
